  • THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: One of the wines of the vintage, the wine is soft, round and silky, with ample concentration. The nose displays truffle, blackberry, plum, licorice, chocolate and earth. The wine was made from a blend of 62% Merlot and 38% Cabernet Franc. Tasted Nov, 2014

  • WINEDOCTOR by Chris Kissak: Château Angélus (St Emilion) 2004: Dark, spicy, concentrated fruit character on the nose, smoky, with very fine fruit definition. The palate has an elegant poise which takes me by surprise, as despite the evident fruit concentration the middle here feels defined, correct and sharp. The fruit still has some primary features, and the structure seems confident but correct. I love the smoky, concentrated aromatics too. Great structure. An excellent wine for the vintage. (March 2014)
