A Rioja crianza wine with the particular features of the terroir of Aldeanueva de Ebro and the touch of the Real Rubio winery. The graciano grape combined with the classic tempranillo give a wine with lively colours and solid acidity. On the nose, the French and American oak mingles with the red berries and vanilla. Potent in the mouth, long on the palate with pleasant, ripe tannin which completes the harmony of the wine.
The story of Viñedos Real Rubio began over one hundred years ago at the hands of the great grandparents of the owners, who began grape growing in the area around Monte Yerga, cultivating vines at a height of between 400 and 500 metres. Family determination over three generations has led to the creation of Viñedos Real Rubio and a family flare for making interesting wine will secure its ongoing future.

"There's a lot of value to be had in red Rioja. This Rioja crianza is 8 years old and an 80/20 blend of tempranillo and graciano. It saw 18 months in barrel and is from an organic vineyard. In the glass, there are aromas of game, cedar, leather, spice and red fruits. The tannins are softening, the length is good, and this wine is entering its best drinking window. A lot for $30." Rating: Very Good.

"The Rioja wine region in 2010 is well known for producing generous wines, full of character. Some of the wines took their time to reveal their true potential, and this 80% Tempranillo 20% Graciano blend from Real Rubio is the perfect example. Here we are, in 2018, and the wine is finally coming together, offering riper blackberry and plum notes, with perfectly integrated toasty oak (a mix of French and American) and leathery characters; it has become complex, attractive and multi layered. It could well be at its peak, still offering plenty of fruit freshness on the palate to balance the rich tannins. I’m enjoying this."

"Good colour in the glass-robust for Rioja. The nose is modern; built on the choice of barrels, more American than French for 18 months causes nose richness and sweetness. Lots of chocolate which encourages drinkers, made from long hang time grapes ripening to the last drop of sugar, and therefore pumped up in flavour.
The palate does not let you down. This is Rioja on the fuller bodied side, some subtlety and good savoury notes tangled up with a good dose of grippy tannins, makes for the richer style. This is crianza exuberant in fruit and made for those early drink windows, meaning now. The 80% tempranillo plus 20% graciano to soften and sweeten, plays a good tune on the tongue. Absolutely great value to drink while the lamb shoulder roasts slowly. Hipster drink."
